Hardwood, hybrid, and Polysatin shutters differ in finish and in the rooms they suit. Start with the conditions around your window, then compare the look of each material.
Heritance® Hardwood Shutters offer genuine wood grain with paint and stain choices. They suit rooms with controlled humidity. Real wood is not recommended for high-humidity areas or places with direct water exposure.
NewStyle® Hybrid Shutters have wood-composite construction and a low-luster painted finish. They offer a wood-inspired look for living spaces. Because they contain wood, we’ll check humidity and placement before recommending them for a kitchen or bathroom.
Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Shutters are made for strong sunlight and humid conditions. They are an option for kitchens, bathrooms, and sunny rooms, subject to the location and configuration. Motorized versions must be kept away from direct water contact.
Shutters provide adjustable light and privacy through movable louvers and fitted panels, but they are not intended to create complete darkness.
Smaller and larger louvers create different proportions, view-through, and clearance needs. The best choice depends on window size, handle depth, sightlines, and how much view you want when the louvers are open.
Frames, stiles, light stops, overlaps, panel alignment, mounting position, and out-of-square openings all affect light transfer. Some gaps are necessary for panels and louvers to operate.
Louver angle can balance daylight and privacy, but room lighting and viewing angle still matter. Review the actual window position and desired sightline during the in-home consultation.
