Common drapery alteration services we provide.
Length adjustments
Draperies that are too long or too short for a new space can be re-hemmed to the correct floor or sill clearance. We match the original hem style so the alteration is invisible.
Width adjustments
Panels that are too wide for a new window can be taken in. Panels that need more coverage can sometimes be extended with coordinating fabric or lining.
Header and pleat changes
Pinch-pleat, goblet, ripple-fold, and rod-pocket headers can be converted to suit a different rod or track system. This may be useful when hardware changes or treatments move between rooms.
Lining replacement
Worn, yellowed, or damaged lining can be replaced with new blackout, thermal, or standard lining without replacing the face fabric.
Re-hanging and re-fitting
If treatments have moved to a new home or a room has been remodeled, we can re-assess the fit, adjust the hardware, and re-hang so everything looks intentional.
Cleaning and pressing
We can advise on appropriate cleaning methods for your fabric and press treatments back to a crisp, finished appearance after cleaning or storage.
Alter or replace?
When to alter your drapery vs. replace it.
Alterations make sense when the fabric is in good condition and the change needed is structural: length, width, header, or lining. If the fabric is faded, worn, or simply no longer suits the room, replacement is usually the better investment.
We'll look at your treatments and tell you plainly which path makes more sense. There's no pressure to replace when a good alteration will do the job.
- Good candidates: treatments moving to a new home or room
- Good candidates: fabric in excellent condition, wrong length
- Good candidates: header style no longer suits the hardware
- Consider replacing: fabric faded, worn, or structurally compromised
